About the Course

When launching a new business, founders should start by gathering the hypotheses of the business model into a document known as a Lean Canvas. The Lean Business model Canvas is a 1-page business plan template that helps you deconstruct and build from there. The lean canvas is a part of lean startup philosophy that aims to enable you to discover something that has greater odds of success through systemic de-risking your business model from an idea stage.

This course will introduce you to the basics of the lean canvas. The objective is two fold - to get you acquainted with the lean startup way of doing things and to get you to create a lean business model canvas for your business idea.

Who could (or should) bother about lean canvas?

The Lean Canvas is a Business Model Canvas adapted for startups at the very early stage of their lifecycle. It provides founders with a first opportunity to document the business model of their future startup, which will then be constantly evolving. It is useful for everyone involving in bringing the new product or service to market, i.e. business owners, potential investors, and partners.

Why this course?

There is an ample amount of information, articles etc. freely available on this subject. They, why this course?

In past, when I worked with startup founders on the stage when they were creating their first canvas, I used to refer them to different information available on the subject. But invariably, there had been some hiccups and I ended up evolving a way of administrating the lean canvas learning to the absolute first-timers in a way that seemed worked.

This course is the outcome of those sets of series of instructions that went back and forth between me and startup founders previously.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for the absolutely first-timers to the concept of lean startups and lean business model canvas. The whole idea behind this course is to hand-hold the founders who are newbies to lean canvas, in order to get the things out there in an efficient way.

Even, for the founders who are familiar with the lean canvas or who have used the lean canvas before, there could be some value in terms of one-on-one coaching on the subject in the context of their business.

Instructor

Presently, I am involved in entrepreneurship training, mentoring and startup consulting.

My prior work involved a stint in an early venture fund and launching and building two businesses.

My current focus area is - early stage starups, early traction, lean business model, value proposition, investors deck, business plan, product-market fit, minimum viable product (MVP), strategy, growth, lean business model validation process and more.

My core strength is about experimenting.

Many individuals and teams struggle to move from ideas to projects (or startups), at the right time. Sometimes ideas remain ideas for way too long. At other times they become projects (or startups) prematurely, without validation. Running experiments is the missing step. It’s a distinct unit or phase of work.

Running the right experiments is hard and this is where I bring in value.
